What I Tackle
Give me your gnarly product problems with complex trade-offs. I will help us take a structured approach, and I will ensure the user’s voice is heard.
Let me dive into the data. My background gives me the numerical and data chops to make sure we will not be going purely on gut feel.
I operate at the strategy level. Features only make sense if they fit within the business goals and the second order implications have been given consideration.
Give me teams to lead. I have managed successful and productive teams of all shapes and sizes in all kinds of organisations.
Experience
Head of Product — Flow EngineeringLondon, UK
Flow is a small, product-diven startup so I am a very hands-on product manager. I spend my time:
Running continuous discovery and making the insights digestible for the team. We never miss a week, and I have conducted many hundreds of user interviews ranging from tactical to completely open-ended.
We constantly have longer-term strategic work, customer driven work, and tactical bug fixes on the go. It is my job to set the balance between these sources of backlog on a weekly basis depending on the company strategy.
A large portion of my role is to bring structure and context to my team's decision making. I do this as much as possible through involving my whole team (including the engineers) in customer interactions, but I can also stand in as an effective internal voice of the customer.
I have a natural aptitude for working with analytics. I have built our entire internal data pipeline. A key part of my role is marrying the quantitative data with the qualitative in order to draw robust conclusions.
I also wear many additional hats:
Product strategy
Customer success
Hiring
People management of the engineering team
Board meetings
And being part of the three-person team that steers the company
When hunting for product market fit the thing I am most proud of is having the guts to ignore the sunk cost fallacy and start from scratch a couple of times when the evidence indicated that we needed to.
